Member’s Tour of the Easton Foundation

  • New York, New York United States (map)

We were honored to invite the Tel Aviv Museum of Art's American Friends' Board of Directors and Members to an exclusive private tour of The Easton Foundation.

The Easton Foundation, established by Louise Bourgeois in the 1980s as a non-profit charitable organization, serves as a powerful tribute to her legacy. Upon her passing in 2010 at the age of 98, Bourgeois bequeathed her home and an adjacent townhouse to the Foundation, along with a substantial collection of her work, solidifying its role as the custodian of her artistic and personal history.

The Foundation is dedicated to preserving and promoting the life and work of Louise Bourgeois. Through its dynamic programming, including the Louise Bourgeois Archive, a study center and residency for curators and scholars, a sculpture garden, and a rotating exhibition space, the Foundation fosters new interpretations and scholarship surrounding Bourgeois’s art and legacy. The continued conservation of her iconic home and studio, where she lived and worked for nearly five decades, allows for an intimate understanding of her creative process and environment.

Following the private tour, we sat beneath Spider II at Manuela, Hauser & Wirth’s beautifully designed restaurant, where we gathered for a memorable meal, continuing our conversations about Bourgeois’s impact and the enduring power of contemporary art.
