Member’s Tour of the Josef & Anni Albers Foundation and Yale University Art Gallery

  • Connecticut United States (map)

The Tel Aviv Museum of Art’s American Friends welcomed members for a special day in Connecticut exploring two institutions that have shaped the history of modern and contemporary art.

The day began with a private visit to the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation in Bethany, Connecticut, where guests experienced the legacy of two artists whose groundbreaking work transformed our understanding of color, form, material, and perception. Through an intimate tour of the Foundation and its collection, participants gained deeper insight into the enduring influence of the Alberses on generations of artists around the world.

Following lunch, the group traveled to the Yale University Art Gallery in New Haven for a private visit through the museum’s renowned collection. Led by members of the Gallery’s curatorial team, guests explored highlights spanning centuries of artistic achievement while engaging in conversations about collecting, scholarship, and the role of museums in shaping cultural dialogue.

Together, these visits offered a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the power of art, education, and institutional stewardship—values that continue to resonate deeply with the mission of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.

We are grateful to our hosts, guides, members, and friends who joined us for a memorable day of learning, discovery, and connection.
